Na noite desta terca-feira, 7, duas bases áreas que abrigam tropas americanas, foram atingidas por pelo menos nove foguetes, as informações sobre vitimas não foram confirmadas até o momento. O Pentágono confirmou os ataques e o Irã, assumiu a autoria.

Segundo a TV estatal iraniana a Guarda Revolucionária islâmica do país lançou “dezenas” de foguetes, como resposta a morte do general iraniano Qassim Soleimani, na última quinta feira, após ataque americano.

Uma das bases atingidas foi Ain al-Asad, no oeste do Iraque, a outra se localiza em Irbil, segundo o Pentágono, as duas bases americanas já estavam em alerta máxima “devido a indicação de que o regime iraniano planejava atacar nossas forças e interesses na região”.

O principal negociador do Irã para assuntos nucleares, Saeed Jalili, postou no twitter a bandeira iraniana, assim que os primeiros relatos da base área do Ain al Asad surgiram. O fato lembra a atitude do presidente americano Donald Trump, que também postou a foto da bandeira americana em sua rede social, após o ataque que matou Soleimani.

A porta voz da Casa Branca, Stephanie Grisham, informou que o presidente já foi informado do ataque.

“Estamos cientes dos relatos de ataques às instalações dos EUA no Iraque. O presidente está monitorando a situação de perto e consultando sua equipe de segurança nacional”, disse ela, em relato reproduzido pela rede americana CNN.
